Cloud 9 Gelato began with a simple question: why is it so hard to find truly authentic, organic gelato in Virginia?
For the Zhang family, the answer was clear — they'd have to make it themselves. Drawing on their love of Italian gelato and Asian tea culture, they opened a small shop in Chesterfield with nothing but a dream and a commitment to doing things right.
Five years later, Cloud 9 has become Richmond's destination for organic gelato, handcrafted boba, and fresh-baked pastries — each item made with the same care and attention to quality that started it all.
Our Journey
Five Years of Flavor
The Beginning
The Zhang family opens their first small gelato shop in Chesterfield, Virginia, with a dream of bringing authentic Italian gelato made with organic ingredients to Richmond.
Growing Roots
Word spreads quickly about our organic gelato. We expand our menu to include handcrafted boba tea, using only premium loose-leaf teas and organic milk.
Bakery Launch
We add an artisan bakery, introducing fresh-baked croissants, mochi donuts, and seasonal pastries — all made from scratch each morning.
Second Location
Cloud 9 opens its second location in Farmville, bringing our organic treats to more Virginia communities while maintaining our commitment to quality.
